I'm sure that many of you have used message board services in the past and are aware how they work, but for those who are not, here is a quick rundown:
- As a guest you are allowed to view boards, which contain topics/threads. Each thread is a series of posts by several people.
- Before you are allowed to reply to posts and start your own threads, you must register by clicking the link on the homepage. This is a very short process (where you can choose a username and password) and your account will be activated when you click a link in an e-mail which is sent to you (which happens instantly). Note, this e-mail may go into Junk e-mail folders so if you do not receive the e-mail please check your Junk e-mail as well.
- This forum has been set up in much the same way as many others: i.e. there is a PM system, you can use smileys, you can edit your profile (including your avatar, signature, and your display name - the name shown on the boards which can be different to your username), skin (forum background) etc.
- When you register an account on this forum, like all others, you will be asked to agree to abide by the regulations the forum has in place. Please read these carefully. Failure to do so could result in a formal warning or even a temporary or permanent ban from posting on the forum. Any behaviour deemed to be threatening, obscene or racially aggrevated will NOT be tolerated under any circumstance and will result in a permanent ban without exception.
- Most importantly, do not give out any personal details such as addresses, phone numbers etc to people you meet on this forum. Giving out your MSN address is fine as you can easily block people, but please be aware you do this at your own risk and please do this via PM (personal messaging) rather than making it public. Also do not agree to meet in person anyone you meet on these forums!
- In order to receive prizes that should be available in competitions, you will need to be willing to give out your address to website staff so that we can post them to you. Any information you give us will categorically go no further, but please be aware should you not be willing to give out your address, you will forfeit any prize you have won as it won't be possible to get it to you.
- So, to summarise...
Do:
* post on the forum
* vote in polls
* participate in competitions that arise
* be nice, we are a friendly forum after all
* enjoy the forum for what it is, a bit of fun
Don't:
* give out any personal information
* agree to meet anyone in person that you meet on here
* post anything that may be construed as threatening, obscene or racially aggrevated
* spam - spam posts will be deleted at first opportunity
And finally, on behalf of myself and the rest of the website team, welcome to the Thomas Law Fansite Forum, and happy posting!
